Mirpur:
Mirpur city is
situated at an elevation of 459 meters A.S.L. it
is linked with the main Peshawar Karachi grand
trunk road at Dina, a small town about 15
kilometers short of jhelum city . From
Rawalpindi cantt its total distances it 116
kilometers.
The construction of
mangla dam converted the old Mirpur town into a
big artificial lake and affected a population of
about 50,000. But it paved the way for existing
new Mirpur town situated on the bank of Mangla
Lake. The city is well planned and buildings are
mostly of modern design.
Mirpur is developing
into an industrial city very rapidly. On the
other side of Mangla Lake, from siakh about 4 km
on boat on can visit ramkot fort, worth seen due
to its scenic and archeological aspects. All the
basic emanates of life are available in Mirpur.
Colleges, hospitals, banks, shopping centers,
hotels, and telecommunication are available.
Some good hotels, forest rest houses provide
accommodation facilities.
Khari sharif:
8 km from Mirpur, a
black top road runs to Khari sharif, a place of
religious importance. This place is well known
due to the shrines of Baba Peer-e-Shah Ghazi and
Mian Mohammad Baksh (the author of famous
“Saif-ul-Malook” based on mystic poetry.
Thousand of pilgrims visit this sacred place to
rejuvenate their dust hearts daily.
When to go:
Mirpur is at its
best from September to April, when the days are
crisp and cool, and nights are cold, Spring
comes for a short while but the flower in march
are a riot of color. The hottest months are may
to August, before the monsoon, but the nights
are pleasant during these days. The valleys and
the places of high altitudes with almost
pleasant climate can be visited in all seasons.
How to get
there:
Mirpur is connected
by road to kotli and some of the cities of
Pakistan. It is 126 kilometers from Islamabad on
grand trunk road, a drive of about 3 hours. It
is also linked with Gujrat , Jehlum, Dina and
Kotli through all weather black trop road
suitable for all kinds of transport.

In Mirpur city, the
hotels are heavily booked in all seasons. Some

city, and are usually booked up also, but wroth
